pacquiao victorious!

Pacquiao rules! After two fights with both fighters winning one a piece, now comes the deciding bout! It's Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao- Erik "El Terrible" Morales III! And it was a good fight but in the end, there was only one man standing... Manny Pacquiao! Even before the fight, Erik Morales had problems with his weight and he was purportedly having trouble with his weight production program. Pacquiao, on the other hand, was fit as a beast! Months before this battle, Morales ballooned to almost 160 lbs of weight! And as the weight in came near, Morales was forcing himself to lose weight to be able to reach 130 lbs. As any boxing mark would know, weight reducing should not be rushed and proper strength training is required to go with it to be able to retain strength! In short, it needs time... a factor that Morales lacked. El Terrible was able to make the weight by fight time but since he "forced" himself on losing weight, he suffered his loss of strength and endurance (just by looking at him, you might mistake him for an anorexic!)... and it clearly showed in battle. The battle never made it past the third round as Pacquiao demolished Morales by two knockdowns before eventually incapacitating his foe by the third.

I was not surprised by Pacquiao winning the bout. With Morales' problems with his weight reduction, I knew he wouldn't last long inside the squared circle with the Pacman. What surprised me, however, was the way Morales fought! Gone were his defensive stances and fierce counter-attacks. Instead, he decided to slug it out with Pacquiao... which I think he really isn't that stupid enough to do! Morales knows Pacquiao's punching power and that going toe to toe with him is like suicide! But he did! And by the third round, he's there sitting on the floor refusing to get up before the 10 count.

By opting to go "brawling" with Pacquiao, instead of his usual "smart" boxing, I think Morales knew he had no chance in hell winning the battle so he opted to just slug it out with Pacquiao to finish the bout faster. By the second time Morales dropped to the floor, naawa na ako. Parang napasubo nalang siya sa laban na alam niyang hindi niya kaya ipanalo. By the third knockdown, I was relieved that the fight was over. Pacquiao is the better fighter today with the best conditioning and with the better punches!

But despite the loss, Morales is already a hall of famer and he should be proud of what he has accomplished. As for Pacquiao, he has brighter things ahead for him! Barrera should start training now if he only knew what the Pacman will bring to him when they face in the ring! Congrats, Manny!
