Happy Fathers Day!

Happy Fathers Day to every father out there. Specially so, Happy Fathers Day to my dad.

My dad and I, we're pretty close back then. I was his junior, for one.

As I was growing up, he hooked me up with all these worldly knowledge. I get to love movies, learn to appreciate music, and know about famous people like Beethoven... as well as fictional characters like Count Dracula and Huckleberry Finn.

He was very knowledgeable. He loves to read. He loves to watch movies. He appreciate great music. And he loves to write... he's a journalist.

He grew up in Compostela, a small town in Cebu. He was very adventurous as a kid, having experienced everything worldly at such a young age. After a realizing what he wanted, he became serious in life and decided to study in Manila.

He took up Mass Communication in UP Diliman, becoming a member of the prestigious Upsilon Sigma Phi fraternity. After graduating, he had a very successful career: writing for the Manila Times and Philippine Star, among others. His job took him to many places around the world.

And eventually, he settled for a job in Meralco as a top executive being one of the company's top PR man. We're even kidding him right now that if he's still active, he'd have his hands full with all these problems Meralco is facing right now. Hehe.

But everything has to end. By the year 2001, he suffered a massive stroke. He miraculously survive, but now he can't speak... nor can he walk properly. His mind is still clear though.

But I know how frustrating it is for him for not being able to convey what he wants properly. He used to have a powerful voice, that when he raised it, we all shut up... if not because of respect, but because of intimidation.

But now, he can barely squeak a sound. All he's left with for communicating are petty hand gestures. :(

With all this, we are still thankful to God that my dad is still with us right now. He may still be the thick, hot headed person that he was... but we still love him!

He might not have been a perfect husband, but he was a great father.

Happy Father's Day, Pa. We love you! :)
