Tidbits: Vol. splitting headaches, local showbiz

*These past couple of days, I'm having these splitting headaches! Yes, Biogesic has been my best friend as of the moment.I don't know what's causing it though.

Plus, the Internet kept on going off-line. I think something is wrong with PLDT with all these crap services. It's frustrating that I can't use the 'Net when I need to.

It's actually a miracle that I get to be online right now.

*And now, about local showbiz! Walang baduy baduy... tangkilikin ang sariling produkto! ;p

I suddenly found myself addicted to Pinoy Dream Academy Season 2! (PDA2) ;p

It has just started this week, and I must say that this show is LEAGUES BETTER than those crappy Big Brother shows!

Why is it better? I guess maybe because you're now watching people with REAL talents! lol! ;p

As of now, I like these contestants:

Cristina Pastor - she's sexy, FUNNY, and can sing well. I won't be surprised if she wins it all! Watch out for this girl.

Chivas Malunda and Bunny Malunda - the young couple who decided to join the contest for their baby's sake. I find them talented and sincere. They're definitely people worth rooting for. ;p

I'll be following this show. It has the drama, plus the TALENTS not found on those crappy, cheap-ass Big Brother shows (which were nothing but mere exploitation).

PDA2 actually have talents, and are very much worth watching. And as early as now, I'm actually enjoying the show. I'm looking forward to it every night. ;p

*I saw one of my favorite Pinoy movies of all time again this week. It was shown in Cinema One.

What movie? It's Hihintayin Kita Sa Langit.

If you're a wide reader, you've probably read or at least heard about Emily Bronte's 'Wuthering Heights'. 'Hihintayin' is actually a local version of Wuthering Heights, starring Richard Gomez and Dawn Zulueta.

Now, before you go off running and screaming: "Yuck! Si Fil, baduuuuy!!! Waaaah!!", take a moment and try to watch the movie. It's a far cry from those local baduy movies that you regularly get to see. This one is a different breed.

This movie is actually up there with the Lino Brocka and Mike De Leon movies. But instead of 'social awareness' as the theme, 'Hihintayin' features an unconventional love story which shows how much people will (or can) do for love.

I'll go on a limb and say that this is probably the greatest romantic movie in local cinema.

The movie is directed by Carlos Siguon-Reyna, and was shot on the marvelous sceneries of Batanes. The cinematography is very beautiful (probably the best I've seen from local cinema).

The musical score is fantastic. It features George Canseco's masterpiece, 'Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan'.

After the movie reaches it's climax, the theme song hits. You can't help but shed a tear. The story is tragic, but you won't feel sorry for the protagonists. Instead, you feel happy for them. And the theme song provides that 'tragic but happy feeling'. It actually made me shed a tear as a kid.

And after hearing it again recently, it's still haunting as ever. It reminds me of that feeling when I've watched 'Somewhere in Time', which also had a very good musical theme.

Now, I ended up looking for that particular version of 'Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan'. I CAN'T find it! All I get are the Basil Valdez versions which have a 70s vibe to it! Aack. >_>

FYI, I am looking for the movie version of the song which was arranged by Ryan Cayabyab and sung by Richard Reynoso. This one is accompanied predominantly by Piano. Great arrangement by Ryan Cayabyab. Pure classic.

If anyone can help me find this song, please do tell:

"Hanggang Sa Dulo ng Walang Hanggan"
Composer: George Canseco
Arranged by: Ryan Cayabyab
Sung by: Richard Reynoso
Theme song for the movie: 'Hihintayin Kita sa Langit'
