Casino Royale

I'm so stressed out because of all the recent problems so I decided to see a movie today to unwind. I also went out to watch para maipasyal ko na rin si Kuya Victor, a cousin of mine who recently returned to Manila. We decided to watch the new Bond flick, 'Casino Royale'.

Pirece Brosnan is no longer James Bond so when they announced a new Bond in the form of Daniel Craig, I was worried! What the hell would make James Bond as blonde?! I was furious, almost humored. That was before, mind you. After seeing the movie, all I can say is... WOW! Craig has brought justice to Bond. If this wasn't a Bond film, he should be nominated for an Oscar! Craig's take on agent 007 is more humane than his predecessors. It's more realistic. It's also nice that the producers are aiming to make Bond more three dimensional as opposed to the traditional, suave martini drinking 007 agent we all know. In this movie, they depict Bond as a 'human' being... capable of emotions and mistakes. You can see Bond all bruised up and bloodied, and it makes it much much more believable. Kudos to Daniel Craig and the rest of the crew!

Besides Craig's superb performance as James Blonde.. err.. James Bond.. the movie also features the VERY beautiful (and currently my celebrity crush) Eva Green as Vesper Lynd, the only woman whom James Bond has loved. One piece of trivia: 'Casino Royale' is the very first Bond novel that Ian Fleming has ever written. So in reality, this film is sorta like a prequel to the Bond films of before. Call it more like breathing new life/take on the Bond saga.

Overall, this film is superb as it is realistic as agent 007 is portrayed as three dimensional. The Bond franchise is in good hands if they continue this new take on making Bond films! Watch out for the separate blog entry for Eva Green (aka Vesper Lynd)! Ganda niya sobra, mahal ko na siya! Haha!

Blonde, James Blonde! Craig's Bond is buffier and grizzlier. He's more reminiscent of Sean Connery (my fave Bond of all time) rather than the Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan -ish type of Bond.

oi, i didn't notice that you commented here! haha. the movie was great noh? it's like the 'batman begins' of the bond franchise.. rejuvinating it and making it more realistic. i looove it! :) and contrary to you, all the while i thought craig was buff. when i looked him up on the net, i saw his old pics in which he was really thin! nagpalaki lang ata talaga siya for the role! hehe.. tc!
