Friendster Messages (MUST READ! LOL!)

So someone sent me a smile in Friendster (one way of getting someone's attention, though I never used it before), and it turns out to be Rio, who's nangangamusta. And then a couple of days later, another one came in, and it was John... my classmate and close friend from UST, like Rio. After replying to his message, I took notice of the number of messages in my inbox. Then I remembered that I never deleted a single one of my messages (with the exception of one person who'll remain anonymous) since 2003. "Great", I said. So I checked each and everyone! Lol. It's just like opening a long buried time capsule. Fun stuff. So I'm posting here a couple of messages that I found interesting, or forgotten about, or found amazing, or all of the above. I won't post the name of the sender but I'll give clues and the gender. LOL. ;p *I left the messages unaltered except for the names. Any wrong spelling is not my fault! LOL*

Hands Down

Time for a new song for the moment! This time, it's 'Hands Down' by Dashboard Confessional. Nice lyrics. :)

HANDS DOWN by dashboard confessional

Breathe in for luck, breathe in so deep
This air is blessed, you share with me
This night is wild, so calm and dull
These hearts they race from self control
Your legs are smooth as they graze mine
We're doing fine, we're doing nothing at all

My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me
So won't you kill me, so I die happy
My heart is yours to fill or burst, to break or bury
or wear as jewelery, which ever you prefer

The words are hushed let's not get busted
Just lay entwined here, undiscovered
Safe in here from all the stupid questions
"Hey did you get some?"... Man, that is so dumb
Stay quiet, stay near, stay close they can't hear
So we can get some

My hopes are so high that your kiss might kill me
So won't you kill me, so I die happy
My heart is yours to fill or burst, to break or bury
or wear as jewelery, which ever you prefer

Hands down this is the best day I can ever remember
Always remember the sound of the stereo,
the dim of the soft lights,
the scent of your hair that you twirled in your fingers
And the time on the clock when we realized it's so late
And this walk that we shared together

The streets were wet and the gate was locked
so I jumped it, and let you in
And you stood at your door with your hands on my waist
and you kissed me like you meant it
And I knew that you meant it
that you meant it, that you meant it
I knew that you meant it, that you meant it

All about China

Now this one post here will sound political, but hey... I can't help myself. Let's start.

It is all about China. If you read the papers or watch the news these recent times, then you probably heard about all these things about Chinese products being defamed. Let me elaborate one by one.

First off was the White Rabbit candy, you know... the one with the edible paper wrapper (I love that candy!). The Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD) is recalling all White Rabbit candies as well as other candies (all imported from China) from all the stores nationwide. In fact, they made a ban on all these popular Chinese candies. BFAD said that the candies has Formaldehyde (bad for the health obviously) in them. Formaldehyde is an embalming fluid that can cause stomach bleeding and death when taken in large amounts. The Chinese Foreign Minister even asked the RP to lift the ban stating "White Rabbit is to China as puto [rice cake] is to the Philippines. We grew up with White Rabbit." [source]

Next was the recall of Chinese made toys. Yes, toy dolls and the likes. This time they say that the paint job, as well as the magnets made to build the dolls, are the culprit. They say its bad for the health... Yeah.

Then some time later, Chinese made Chocolates are the new target. They say that its ingredients are dirty. They even showed some news footages in the of alleged Chinese Chocolates with worms inside them. Saavy.

A week after, Chinese drugs are being recalled! This time they saying that China drugs are not licensed and tested by the DOH and whatever. Amazing. You got to wonder: why just now?

Then just now, as in right now while I'm writing this, I'm watching TV Patrol... China-made baby cribs are being recalled!! This time they said that it killed three babies because of bad engineering!

Wow! As in wow! So what's next?! Chinese people throughout the world will be recalled!? They won't allow them out of China?! Haha!

Then by research, and by having mature conversations with more political inclined people, I learned that China is the main obstacle for the one powerful country (which we'll refer to as the Big Bad Machine) in terms of raw and import materials and products! China products are exporting all over the world, and the big bad machine is losing its market.

Now, looking back at all these Chinese products recalls... Isn't it obvious that there maybe some sort of propaganda to defame Chinese products?! I mean it's so obvious that almost every week, some form of Chinese product is being recalled! It's almost funny actually... do they (whoever they are) think that people are actually stupid not to notice?!

So it's probably the big bad machine that is all behind it. And the RP being one of the "under" allies of the big bad machine, they are made to not import, as well as reject, products from China. Sad. I mean, our country's government can't probably do anything much about it since our economy relies TOO MUCH from the big bad machine.

I'm not trying to be pro-Chinese or anti-whatever here or anything. And if you're wondering if I'm Chinese or what, no I'm not. I might have a little Chinese blood in me (15% to be exact) and might look like one, but I'm not. I am a Filipino. By culture and by heart. I'm not in anyway taking any racial sides here. I'm only elaborating on what I think is right, and what is wrong. What's fair and what's not.

Bullies and greedy are the best words to describe the big bad machine. Besides stealing another country's oil, as well as defaming (to their advantage) another one's products and raw materials... I wonder what will they do next. LOL.

Now that I got it out of me, I'm gonna stop talking about these mature and Politically-driven things and return to my normal self. Haha.

friendster fumble

I logged in to Friendster this morning, the first time again since eternity. When I entered my password, it won't work! Haha! I then proceeded to enter different passwords which I think is the right one. No avail. Thankfully, I was able to recover it by email verification. I thought my account was deleted due to inactivity. LOL! Bunch of messages, a smile, new comments, and a couple of friend invites (I had to deny the second one because I don't know the person).

Maybe I should drink Glutaphose or whatever that vitamin is for sharpening memory retention. ;p

Alchemy Bar

Thursday night, Dale arrived at our house. I was surprised, I thought he was coming over on Friday. Turns out, naipon niya raw yung mga overtime leaves niya sa Accenture so hindi raw siya papasok the next day! Haha!

Then last night, Dale invited me to go clubbing. To be precise, he invited me to go to Alchemy... a high class bar along Tiendesitas in Ortigas. I've heard about it before but it's my first time to go there last night. Yeah, it was pretty high class... definitely among the likes of Embassy bar. The admission was a pretty sum of 500 pesos! It was nice that Dale paid for me that night! Gas ko naman at sweldo naman niya eh! Haha!

So we left the house at 11:00pm and got there around 12 midnight. My god, the parking lot was awful. It was just an open field of grass and mud! Yes, MUD! As in putik! Grabe ang dugyot. Thankfully I found a parking spot where it wasn't so muddy. Then together with Dale's friends, Lesan and Nico, we went straight to the club. And guess what, hindi sila nagpapapasok ng naka T-shirt! Badtrip!

It happens that Lesan was also wearing a T-shirt, but he brought a jacket with him. So we formulated a plan wherein Lesan, now wearing his jacket, will go inside the club with Nico first... and then some time later, Nico will come out with Lesan's jacket for me to be able to get inside the club. It worked! Haha.

So there we were inside Alchemy. Lots of beautiful people present. We proceeded on the third floor where there's (unforgiving) house music playing. This is bad, at least for me, since I HATE house music! So I had to bear the sounds and drink my beer instead. After sometime, we went back to the 2nd floor where we found out that the previous Johnny Walker event was over and that the whole floor was dedicated to RNB (much to my relief)! So we danced the night away along with the beautiful people. Lol. Oh by the way, there were some celebrity sightings. On the third floor, we saw Alex Crisano along with some tall black people. I also saw Polo Ravales (a celeb from GMA). On the second floor, we saw John Estrada with her brazilian girl friend... which was funny for me and Dale since earlier during the day, we saw a movie on TV starring John Estrada... Haha!

Around 5am, we went home... exhausted and satisfied.

Oh, the whole night I was trying to contact my buddy Richard who just lived near in Pasig. He told me he was dropping by. Last text I received from him, he was eating raw in Libis. I dunno what happened to him. I hope he's OK! Haha!

Looking back, I can say that I no longer enjoy clubbing as much as I did years before. Dale was always my constant companion in clubbing since I knew him in first year. We would frequent clubs and would never miss sem break parties from UST. We did that almost throughout college. Now that I'm older, I feel that I mellowed down. Dale on the other hand is still the bar hopper that he is, still enjoying to dance the night away. Me, I would rather go to a quiet bar/cafe where I can relax and have a nice chat with a friend. *Yikes, this might be a sign na tumatanda na ako! Whaaaa*

Bangkok LOOTS!!

As I've said before, Bangkok is freaking mecca when it comes to shopping for clothes! Of course they have high end malls like the Siam Paragon, but the real gems are the bargain sale malls like the highly popular tourist spot, MBK.

MBK is a tiangge, literally. It's a large mall which looks like an SM mall here, but filled with bargain stores instead of high end brands! It's a dream come true for shopaholics who drop by here!

In MBK, you can buy an assorted of things: clothes, jewelries, gadgets... you name it. And the most important thing is, pwede mong tawaran! Haha! Just think Greenhills, but cheaper and looks better since it looks like a high end mall instead of the usual ugly looking tiangge spots.

The real discovery however is Siam Square. Located beside MBK and in front of Siam Paragon, it is a square full of tiangges. Now this is more like typical Greenhills, but MUCH CHEAPER.

AND HERE'S THE CATCH: You see all those fashionable shirts and blouses they sell in shops here like People Are People?! They all get them FROM HERE! No kidding! Take the picture below for example.

Looks familiar?! Yes, they're the same shirts from People Are People which costs around 750 php each! Guess how much I got them from Siam Square! I got them for 120 Baht! Roughly 160 php! Huwat!?!? Hahahaha! So that means I got to save 590 php for each shirt! ;p

So how come it's cheaper here?! Simply because they all came from here! These are works of young, up and coming Thai designers just waiting for their works to be discovered! Like I've said, they're very fashionable and they sell their works cheaply since they're not famous yet!

So the thing is, if you want to be the first in fashion, as well as to buy them at a cheaper price, Bangkok is the definite place to get them. This is the real treasure of Bangkok's shopping life. Never buy from the Bangkok malls because they have essentially the same prices as our malls. Bargain sales are the way to go! ;p

BANGKOK

At last, the long overdue trip to Bangkok has finally happened. Me and my sister left for Bangkok last Thursday, and got back yesterday. Yeah, it was a short trip but a fun one nonetheless. :)

To sum it up: it was Fun, Frustrating (because we LOST HALF OF OUR PHOTOS because of the camera malfunctioning!), Tiring (because of all the shopping! haha), Amusing.

Let me break down the trip into parts:

Bangkok Airport
The Bangkok Airport was H U G E!!! I'm not exaggerating! It's the biggest port I've ever seen (not that I'm well traveled or what)! It was really big! I wonder what the Singapore Airport looks like, which they say is even bigger than the Bangkok one!

Baiyoke Sky Hotel
For the duration of the trip, we stayed at the Baiyoke Tower which they say is the tallest building in Bangkok. It is located on the Pratunam District. It was really nice since the breakfast was on the very top floor! Nice food and nice view!

My most favorite part is the Breakfast buffet which is obviously eat all you can with all the delicious foods and delicacies!

Transportation
There are Taxis, Bus, and the infamous (and notorious) Tuk-Tuks. The Tuk-tuks reminds of our very own Filipino drivers who rip tourists, charging them exorbitant amount of money! The first time we rode a Tuk-tuk, the freaking driver charged us a freaking 150 Baht for a ride from the mall to our hotel (imagine from Welcome Rotonda to FEU)! 150 Baht! Roughly 200 pesos! For a freaking tuk-tuk?! It's like riding a tricycle here in Manila and paying 200 pesos!

And then we tried the Taxis. Wow, it only cost us 40 Baht for the exact same trip! Savvy! In majority, their taxis are fair when it comes to fare. As long as they use the meter, you're set. :)

Culture and Religion
Thai culture resembles most of our own. The Thai people also looks kinda like Filipinos so we could easily blend in. The religion in majority is Buddhism, followed by Muslim, and then the rest, Christian-Catholic, and other sectors.

They also have thousands of temples! Our tour guide told us that there are at least 50,000 temples in Bangkok city! Wow! Most of these temples have really large displays of GOLD (yes, pure GOLD) Buddhas.

Tour Guide
Our tour guide is named Ping Pong. Haha! He's a splitting image of Marc Abaya. Mukhang hindi mapagkakatiwalaan! Hahaha! Mukhang nagtampo pa sa amin kasi hindi na namin siya na-contact for day 2 and 3! Haha!

Tourists
There were a large number of tourists in Bangkok. Everywhere you look, you can find white, black, European, American, and Asian tourists! They're everywhere! They probably enjoyed shopping as much as we do! Hehe!

Traffic
The traffic was simply horrendous! As in worse than Manila horrendous! Imagine Makati traffic during rush hours. It was most of the time that bad. If Bangkok have to fix something, it's probably their traffic system.

Thai Girls
The Thai girls are gorgeous! Though they look much like Filipinas, mas maporma sila. And for some reasons, most of them have big busts! Hahaha! Must have something to do with Bangkok offering cheaper body surgeries! Hehe. Another noteworthy description about Thai Girls is that they are LIBERATED. Haha.

Fashion
OMG, almost all teens/young adults here are fashionistas! Heck, even grade school girls wear make-ups (I wonder if it's a school requirement). They're becoming like a hybrid of Japan and Koreans in term of fashion. Almost everyone dresses up here! Everyone has their own style. It's hard to find someone who looks baduy! Yeah, they're that good at dressing up.

Shopping!
Now this is probably the biggest draw of Bangkok! I've been to Hong Kong before and comparing it to Bangkok, I probably must say that Bangkok is definitely THE shopping capital of the world. The prices are CHEAP! In terms of fashion, Bangkok is on par with Hong Kong but hell of a lot cheaper! Bangkok is filled of aspiring designers who sells their designs for cheap! I'll make a separate post about shopping in Bangkok! Hahahaha!

Language
Almost no one speaks English!!! Yes, even the help in the airport to the employees at the hotel! And if you find someone that do speak English, it's hard to understand they have this kinda weird English accent.

Food
We haven't really tried the Thai food there. We ate "safely", mostly on American/European cuisine that we Filipinos are used to.

Weather
Same as in the Philippines: Fucking hot.

love at first sight

Yes, it was love at first sight! The Air Zoom Kobe 1 Team USA shoes! The moment I saw it in Paseo Mall, Laguna, I knew I had to buy it! ;p

Original retail price was 8,500 php. Since I bought it from the Nike Outlet store, I got it for 4,700 php! Not bad eh!? Haha.

Yeah, I know it's still a lot of money but for a rare color way of Kobe's first Nike signature shoes, it's a steal! :)

I wasn't able to go to the Kobe Supernatural Tour in Pasig last September 5, so this is most likely my consolation prize! Hehe!

hhiiiiiii!! long time!

Wow, long time no blog (at least for my standards)! It just so happens that many things have passed. I became ILL (as in bedridden.. slept for days); Kobe Bryant went to Manila; I took care of some things; prepared for Bangkok; then eventually went and came back from Bangkok! And that's why I was offline as of late! ;p

Getting back from Bangkok, it seems I missed a lot of news. Suddenly, Camille Prats is preggy; Vanessa Hudgens (of High School Musical fame) has a nude photo scandal (yes, it is real.. she admitted it!); and Erap's verdict will be tomorrow, here in Sandigan Bayan!

Anyways, I'll try to keep up with the blog posts. Probably give them the supposed time they should have been posted. Keep tune.
